Intercooler replacement is one of the basic processes in performance modification. Increasing the pressure of the turbocharger, or by using a larger turbocharger, the original intercooler is not able to cool the air anymore.
Larger intercooler has significant improvement in cooling ability and also reduces back pressure. Decreasing the air temperature to 10°C will increase the engine power by 3-6%.
Depending on the ambient temperature, it is possible to cool the air in the intercooler by 40-55°C, which will increase the performance by 12-33%.
Reducing the engine temperature to absorb greater amount of oxygen (cooler air has a higher density and because it contains the same amount of oxygen more than warm).
